David Bruce Cormier

David Bruce Cormier, 75, passed away peacefully, after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer, on Saturday September 7, 2024 while surrounded by family and close friends, at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on August 1, 1949 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to the late Gerard & Eleanor Gowell Cormier.
Along with his parents, Dave is reunited in passing with his brother, Dennis Cormier.
Dave proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he went to work for the company his father owned and operated, Cormier Floor Covering. His expertise brought him to work for Simond Saw International. He lived for over 20 years in Holden, MA, and upon Dave's well-deserved retirement he relocated to Murrells Inlet, SC. In his free time, Dave loved cheering on Alabama, skiing, golfing with Wayne and Larry (among others), listening to country and 60s music, and traveling to the Caribbean. Above all else, Dave relished making memories with those close to him, and he loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Dave's memory are his adoring wife of over 36 years, Susan C. Cormier of Murrells Inlet, SC; step-daughter, JJ Shirley and husband, Raphael Cunniff of Philadelphia, PA and their sons Xavier, Shane, and Declan, who called him, 'Pop-Pop'; sister, Diane (Wayne) who joined him in SC; sister Cathy; brother, Jerry Cormier; brother in-law Steve (Carol) Chamberlain; as well as several nieces and nephews, especially, Katie, Bethany, Kenny & Caren; a large, loving, extended family; "The Gang", particularly his best friend, Larry; and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Dave's life will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 on Saturday September 14, 2024 at 11:00AM. The family will gather to greet friends from 10:00AM until the time of service.
