David (Buddy) Owen Coyle Sr., 88, widower of the Emma Sue Coyle, transitioned peacefully on June 16, 2025. David was born on March 19, 1937, in Woodford County, Kentucky to Charlie and Alica Goodlett Coyle.
He was a 1955 graduate of Owen County High School, a member of Harmony Baptist Church, a member of the Scott Masonic Lodge #702, America Legion Post 24, helped take care of the Masonic Cemetery for more than 30 years, and he was a crew member of the Terry Coyle Racing Team. He retired from IBM in Lexington.
He leaves to mourn, his son David (Collene) Coyle Jr of Stamping Ground, Kentucky; sister Aggie (Wayne) Henry of Ovieda, Florida; granddaughters Brenna Layne Coyle ( Billy Fitch) of Stamping Ground, Kentucky, Leslie (Matt) Shoulders of Frankfort, Kentucky; great grandchildren Madison Shoulders, Megan Shoulders, Emma Fletcher and Owen Fletcher; Kim Burus (Terry's fiancé) and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Sue Coyle; son Terry Alan Coyle; sister Janie Bastin and Artie Wright; brothers James Coyle and Sammy Coyle.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 12:00pm on Monday June 23, 2025 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with Tim Carpenter presiding. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Matt Shoulders, Easton Wright, Tommy Wright, Jerry Wright, John Riddle, Tim Riddle, Austin Wright and Trampus Offutt; honorary pallbearers Donald Sparks, Ralph Knight, Tom Butler, Kim Burus, Wayne Robey, Greg McNamee and members of the American Legion and Scott Masonic Lodge #702.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators or a charity of your choice.
