David Cumpian

David Cumpian, 89, of Harlingen, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, at Harlingen Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Jose Angel Cumpian and Maria Guadalupe Castillo.
A dedicated and hardworking individual, David spent over 50 years in the printing industry. As the founder and owner of Cumpian Printing, he built a highly respected business that served the entire Rio Grande Valley. His commitment to excellence and his entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting legacy in the community until his retirement in 2018.
During his youth, David was an accomplished athlete and excelled as a long-distance runner. In his later years he enjoyed watching soccer games and other sports. David was also a devout Catholic and an active member of both Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he found comfort and strength in his faith.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Martha M. Cumpian (mother of their six children), brothers Lazaro Cumpian, Enrique Cumpian, and Felix Cumpian.
He is survived by his cherished children: Fred Cumpian (Alicia), Angel Cumpian (Rosa), David Cumpian Jr. (Beatrice), Marta Laura Cumpian, Rodolfo Cumpian (Reyna), George Cumpian (Mari), Raquel Cumpian, and Priscilla Layos (Jose). His legacy also lives on through his 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, whom he adored.
David is also survived by his brothers, Francisco, Jose Angel, Vicente, Gilberto, and Urbano, as well as his sisters, Josefina, Gabriela Guadalupe, and Yolanda.
The Cumpian family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Rudy Garza Funeral Home, with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, beginning with a chapel service at 10:30 AM at Rudy Garza Funeral Home, services will conclude after the chapel service and commence with a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Restlawn Cemetery.
David's dedication to his family, his work, and his faith touched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to his loved ones. May he rest in eternal peace.
