In Loving Memory of

David Post Desmond

April 19, 1942 - August 28, 2025

Born in Middletown, CT to Frank and Louise Desmond. He and his younger sister, Saily Kensel, were raised by these educators and lived in various towns throughout southern Connecticut.

David grew up with a strong interest in cars- building/working on engines, a big fan of movies and music of all genres.

David attended the University of Connecticut where he had a short stint as a disc jockey at the school's station. Most people can't imagine him doing this with his soft-spoken, mild-mannered demeanor. His radio name was "Danny Driver"

After receiving his bachelor's degree, he was drafted by the U.S. army which caused a HUGE shift in his future plans. As David told the story, a cranky sergeant with a thick accent read off names of men being transferred. Finally realizing his name was being called, he was moved to Texas. He always considered this to be the biggest stroke of luck!

It was in San Antonio where he met his future wife, Carmen Esparza. David used his "smooth" moves to convince Carmen to see a James Brown concert for their first date. Somehow she saw a future with David and they married in 1969; they went on to raise 3 daughters- Marie (married to Anthony Cravey). Lisa (married to Gordon Keogh), and April.

David managed to survive a house full of females as he worked at the UT Health Science Center. There he was a senior research associate where he contributed numerous medical journals and was awarded many grants to fund the drug research his department worked on.

He retired in 2000. In his retirement, he continued to see his family grow with marriages and grandchildren born which include:

Jesse Desmond & his wife, Cami Anthony Ben Cravey & his fiancé, Taylor

Lauren Matalon & her husband, David Dakota Cravey Riley Elmer Jeff Keogh

David was also blessed to have 2 great grandchildren- Lander Matelon and Tabitha Desmond It's hard to say goodbye to a loved one but we have memories that help us keep him close to our hearts: his love of music, his interest and passion for good-looking cars, his loving heart for dogs and spoiling them rotten, his very silly sense of humor and keeping the porch filled with perfectly potted plants.

Our family requests, in lieu of flowers, that you consider making a donation to the Bulverde Area Humane Society. David and Carmen adopted some amazing dogs from them.
