David Robert Donahue, age 73, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 21, 2025 in Washington, DC. David was retired and living in Chevy Chase, MD with his life-long partner, Sylvia (Perretta) Lesic.
David was born and raised in Boardman, Ohio. He attended Youngstown State College and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. David had a distinguished career in leadership roles in the public sector for the YMCA, American Diabetes Association, and the Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF) (Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF)). His dedication to excellence earned him wide respect among his professional peers.
David was an avid runner, golfer, and overall sports enthusiast. He also enjoyed watching all sports and binge watching his favorite TV series alongside his beloved Capital Cats.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie R. and Barbara (Mounds) Donahue.
He is survived by his sister Cheryl Lundin. He will be sadly missed by his extended Gallagher, Angell and Donahue families of Pittsburgh, PA area, along with his friends from the Washington, DC and Myrtle Beach, SC area.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM at William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A blessing service will be celebrated Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 4:00 PM, at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
