David Ray Donaldson

David Ray Donaldson, age 85, of Evans City, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Born November 7, 1940, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Ray and Pearl Naomi (Peek) Donaldson.

David was a simple man, and a good husband and father. In his youth he worked for Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village as a groundskeeper and blacksmith. He served in the Army, and then worked at the IRS Data Center in Detroit for most of his career. In his retirement, he taught writing at Wayne State University. David was an avid reader and appreciated literature and history. He also enjoyed listening to classical music, watching older movies, and taking walks to stay active. David loved his morning routine of black coffee and a book at Starbucks. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

David leaves behind his daughters, Catherine Donaldson and Melissa (Drew) Smith; and his grandsons, Connor and Riley Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia Ann (Martin) Donaldson.

No services will be held as per David's wishes.
