Remembering the Life of David Alphonso Elleston
David Alphonso Elleston was born on October 18, 1948, to Doris and Harold Elleston in Clarendon, Jamaica. Affectionately known by many names, including "Click," "Butter," and "Megaton," he was beloved by all who knew him.
David attended Red Hills All-Age School in Clarendon before moving to Spanish Town, St. Catherine, where he lived with his sister Edna and became a proud father to three children: Christopher, Meline, and Omreth. During this time, he made the life-changing decision to join the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), proudly serving his country for ten years.
In 1979, David migrated to the United States to reunite with his siblings. He began a new chapter in life, pursuing a career in healthcare while living in New York and later in North Carolina until his retirement.
While in New York City, David met Deborah Green, who would become the love of his life and his wife. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Davida. Together, the family eventually settled in Wilmington, North Carolina, creating a loving home filled with cherished memories.
David was known for his remarkable memory and passion for family history. With his unique ability to recall details about relatives and events, he became the family's historian, the go-to person for any questions about their lineage. As a child, his mother entrusted him with grocery shopping, relying on his sharp eye for quality and his ability to stretch their resources-a talent she deeply admired.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, David had a deep love for all kinds of sports, spending countless hours watching games. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he often inspired others to become fans. Even in the face of illness, watching sports continued to bring him immense joy.
David's love for his family was evident in his actions. He cared deeply for his children and grandchildren, showing his affection through thoughtful gestures, such as sending Christmas and birthday gifts and staying connected through phone calls. He often shared fatherly advice, discussed sports, and kept up with current events with his loved ones.
Although David was raised in an Anglican family, he frequently attended the Church of God of Prophecy with his grandmother. Later in life, he rededicated himself to his faith and became a devoted member of Venture Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.
David's final journey began when he fell ill. Surrounded by his family, he was relocated to Pennsylvania, where he spent his remaining days enveloped in love and care. On December 3, 2024, David peacefully entered eternal rest in God's arms.
He is survived by his children Christopher, Meline, and Omreth; daughters-in-law Marvia and Sophia; siblings Edna, Idel, Eda, Yvonne, and Arthur; grandchildren Trrian, Tia-Renee, Christopher Jr., Daniel, Christian, Abigail, Micah, Ashton, Andrew, Ariyan, and Treshawn; great-grandchildren Caleya and Da'Corey; sister-in-law Vaudie; brother-in-law Leonard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
David will be forever missed but will remain in our hearts and memories with everlasting love. Though he is gone, he will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
