David Daniel Elsea, 82, of Winchester, VA passed away Monday, July 1, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center.
David was born February 12, 1943, the son of the late Daniel Snyder Elsea and Helen Russell Elsea. Growing up he was active in the Boy Scouts, earning the honors of Eagle Scout and the Silver Beaver award. He helped many other scouts earn merit badges in the areas of communications, electronics and computers. He was a 1962 graduate of Handley High School, studied electrical engineering at Virginia Tech, and had a Master Electrician license for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was an aviation navigator. He retired from AT&T (formerly Western Union) in Middletown. VA after over 30 years of employment as a Computer Technician.
In his spare time, and after retiring, he enjoyed being a HAM radio operator and was an avid gardener. He was also a skilled cabinet maker & woodworker, he especially enjoyed collecting and building clocks. He was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon, Elder, Chairman of the Property Committee and Chairman of the Board.
He is survived by "his girls" – a daughter, Susan Davis (Mike) of Middletown, VA; and cherished granddaughter, Sarah Davis. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Joyce Lake Elsea.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at First Christian Church in Winchester from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Moulden officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in David's name to First Christian Church at 75 Merrimans Lane Winchester, VA 22601.
