David M. Englert, 68, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away Monday evening, September 26, 2022,
surrounded by family.
David was a devoted husband of 32 years to Brenda Wallace Englert, loving father to Michael,
Ashley, and Jonathan (Vanessa) Englert, and doting grandfather to Jane Englert. David is also
survived by his siblings: Jim Englert, Steve (Lisa) Englert, Ralph (Deborah) Englert, Donna (Neil)
Fraley, and Sharon (Gavin) Register.
David was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on March 16, 1954, to the late Ralph and Jean Englert.
David was a graduate of the University of Florida, earning a degree in Horticulture. His proclivity for
plants began at an early age, growing herbs and vegetables in the basement of his childhood home.
In his early years, his dream was to feed the world by getting his degree in agriculture with an
emphasis on fruits and vegetables. David envisioned using his skills in the Peace Corps to feed the
world. However, he found himself involved in what he never imagined-- growing ornamental plants.
Eventually, he became an established tropical foliage nurseryman and owner of Country
Joe's Nursery in Lake Worth, FL. He thoroughly enjoyed his work. He treasured his employees
and customers, and was treasured by them in return.
David was a family man who loved the Lord. Diligent in business, loving husband, doting father, and
faithful follower of Christ, David sought to honor God in everything he did. Every morning you could
find him sitting in his chair studying the Bible, on occasion even reading it out loud to his family. He
desired for all to know God and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Tenderhearted, David
always made himself available to chat, no matter how busy or tired he was. You knew he was really
listening to you because he asked great follow up questions. His soft-spoken wisdom was welcomed
by all. David was generous not only with his time, but also his resources, always quick to help those
in need. He may have been a slow driver, but he was also the only reason his immediate family made
it on time to events.
David enjoyed reading, sharing stories, and all things outdoors--boating and snorkeling in the Keys,
scuba diving, fishing, hiking and rafting in the mountains, even things as simple as sitting to watch the
sunset. When he was relaxing, you could find him outside maintaining the yard, going for a dip in the
pool, or listening to a podcast to stay informed on America's political issues.
David's spirit was a source of peace, wisdom, and strength for many. He was a kind and generous
man who gave more than he took. His listening ear, wise counsel, and peaceful presence is dearly
missed, but his character, strength, and tender heart will live on in those whose lives he touched.
David's unconditional love for others and heart for the Lord shined through him throughout his life.
Knowing he is in heaven with Jesus gives us great comfort. We look forward to reuniting with him
there one day.
A service celebrating David's life will be held 10:00am on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Christ
Fellowship Chapel, 5312 Northlake Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418. Burial to follow at
Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, FL, 33469.
