With deep sorrow and steadfast hope in the promise of eternal life, we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, David Lee Ethridge, who went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2025.
David was born on November 21, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Clifton Leon and Mary Edna Ethridge. As a young boy, his family moved to Galveston, Texas, where he would grow up and later dedicate more than 20 years of faithful service to Gal-Tex Corporation.
A man of unwavering faith, David was a true believer in Jesus Christ. His wisdom, quiet strength, and gentle spirit were a blessing to all who knew him. David loved cheering on the Astros, and wasn't a "fair-weather fan."
David married the love of his life, Terry, in 1997. Together they raised a beautiful family and built a home filled with love, peace, and joy. David was a devoted husband and a proud and loving father to five children: Jennifer and her husband Jason Chaney, Michael and his wife Jessica Dean, David Ethridge II "Baby David" and his wife Sarah, Cynthia and her husband Julian Signo, and Zachary Dean. His legacy of dedication, love and faith lives on in them.
He was a cherished PawPaw and "Big David" to eight grandchildren-Trey & Pilar Trevino, Talli Chaney, Chris Signo, Paul Signo, Bree Ethridge, Nathaniel Chaney, Ollie Dean, and Leon Ethridge-and one precious great-granddaughter, Alethea Trevino, all of whom he prayed for daily.
David is also survived by his sister Debbie Glass and her husband Leonard, and their two sons, Matthew and Robert, as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever remember his kindness, integrity, and steadfast heart.
Though our hearts ache in this loss, we rejoice in the hope of heaven. David has finished his race and now rests in the arms of Jesus, where there is no more pain.
A funeral service celebrating David's life and faith will be held at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, on Thursday, May 29th at 10am with burial following at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. The family asks that you honor his memory by living each day with love, sharing wisdom, and walking humbly in faith-as he so faithfully did every day.
Until we meet again, we hold fast to God's promises and to the blessed assurance that David is home.
