David Wayne Forrester was born November 19, 1952 in Burlington, NC to Vance “Rock” Forrester and Gladys Forrester. The baby of the family, Dave was adored by his siblings and parents.

In school, Dave was a football star and friend to all. His love for football, and specifically Cummings High School, continued into adulthood as he supported the team with his presence and as an announcer at their home games.

In early adulthood, Dave utilized his athletic ability and huge personality as a professional wrestler. He traveled up and down the east coast facilitating and participating in wrestling matches, both masked as a character and as “Big Dave” Forrester - a nickname that stayed with him throughout his life and described him not only in stature, but in heart and character.

Dave had a long career in the food service industry, making friends and picking up honorary family members in his coworkers and employees along the way. He was there to support everyone, no matter what they needed.

A lifelong family man, Dave was an incredible father and grandfather. His greatest joys lie in watching his sons grow up and become fathers themselves. He, along with his first wife Carolyn of more than 40 years, always poured their hearts into having fun with their grandchildren.

Dave was also a loving and attentive husband to his wife of five years, Michele Forrester. They shared a love of hockey, the beach, camping, and watching football. Dave spent his final months with his son’s family in Lilburn, GA, where he was able to feel the love of family until his passing from complications of dementia on the morning of Tuesday, November 5.

He is survived by his wife Michele Forrester; his siblings and their spouses - Vance “Butch” and Carol Forrester, Nancy and Jack Sink, and Patricia and Barney Jordan; and his sons and their families - Mike and Amy Forrester, Marley, and Delia, and Matt and Michelle Forrester, Liam, Lily, Lorelei, and Linus.

In lieu of flowers, Dave’s family would love for you to support "Hope Lives at Cummings In Partnership with Glen Hope Baptist Church" Checks can be mailed directly to Glen Hope Baptist Church with a memo of "Hope Lives at Cummings". Glen Hope Baptist Church, 911 North Avenue, Burlington, NC 27217

Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service at 10am on Saturday, November 30 at Glen Hope Baptist Church to celebrate Dave’s life and memory.
