David Foshey Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 11, 2024.
David H. Foshey, 86, of Sanford, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
David was born on February 16, 1938, one of eleven children to George and Marion Foshey. He grew up in a lively, close-knit family and carried those values with him throughout his life.
In 1968, David purchased a camp on Estes Lake, a place that would become a beloved family retreat known as "Camp David." Over the years, as neighboring lots became available, family members eagerly joined him on the lake, establishing a legacy of lakeside gatherings. Camp David grew to be a cherished destination where laughter, storytelling, and memory-making filled the days-a lasting gift to the Foshey family.
David was also a Master Mason, holding a proud 60-year membership with the Lafayette Lodge A.F. & A.M. His dedication to this brotherhood reflected his commitment to tradition, community, and lifelong learning.
Among his greatest passions was his love for books. He was an avid collector, reader, and seller, treasuring each book for its story and wisdom. Those who knew David knew of his love for literature.
David was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Helen, Marion, George, Donald, Charles, Fred, Arthur, and Lois. He is survived by his sister, Charlotte MacLeod of Sanford; his brother, Robert Foshey of Holbrook, MA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom were dear to his heart.
A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date. His family finds comfort in knowing he leaves behind a legacy of love for family, and books, that will live on in their hearts and memories.
