David Wayne Fry, 70 of Winchester, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at his home. He was born June 26, 1954, in Springfield, the son of Hubert and Ruth (Koehne) Fry. He married Elizabeth Hampton on April 4, 1980, and she preceded in death on August 2, 2005. He later married Bonnie Tinsley, and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Jared (Dana) Fry of Pittsfield; daughter, Teresa Hampton of Jacksonville; mother, Ruth Dobson; stepson, Jon (Courtney) Caldwell; two stepdaughters, Carrie Caldwell of Louisiana, and Susan Caldwell of Mount Sterling; brothers, Buck Dobson and Warren Dobson; sisters, Judy Powell, Cathy Crammond, Rita Davis, and Shelly Williams; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Fry, and two brothers, Jim Fry and Kenneth Dobson.
David was a lineman for 40+ years in the IBEW. He made many friends there, and loved o share stories from the job site where he was known as the "Fry daddy". He also cherished time outdoors and enjoyed hunting deer and catching any fish that would bite a hook. Most of all though, Dave loved his family by caring for them and always offering a good attitude and friendly, loving smile.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial to follow at McWhorter Family Cemetery east of Roodhouse. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the Gary Sinise Foundation. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
