David Avery Gann, 86, passed away at his home in Houlka, MS on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Born April 1, 1938 in Chickasaw County, he was the son of the late John Clifton Gann and the late Bernice Clark Gann. David attended Houlka Attendance Center, and he was a member of Pearson's Chapel Nazarene Church. David worked as an engineer in the railroad industry until his retirement after 40 years of service. While working on the Railroad in Bloomington, IL, he met his soulmate, Louann Gottschalk, and they were married for 60 years until her passing earlier this year. David was a very hard worker, and he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He had an unmatched work ethic, and he set a great example for his children and grandchildren. He was a lover of the outdoors, and he spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. He was one of the last remaining original coon hunters. But the thing he loved most of all was the Lord, and he deeply cherished his relationship with God. David was loved deeply by his family and friends, and they will forever honor his memory in their hearts.
Southern Funeral Home has the honor of serving the Gann family.
Memorial Services will be held by David's family at a later date.
