David Lynn George age 73 of Madrid, Iowa died Friday, November 10th, 2023.
David was born February 16, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was adopted by Ferris and Margaret (Christianson) George and lived with his family in Madrid, Iowa where he attended Ballard schools and, graduated in 1969.
On July 17, 1970, he married Nancy Rhodes in Perry, Iowa. David started farming and later became a Diesel Mechanic working at Hawkeye Woodshaving's in Pleasant Hill. David left Hawkeye Woodshaving's and went to work at Johnsrud Trucking Company as a mechanic before he retired. David and Nancy made their home on a farm northwest of Madrid. David and his family moved from there to the family homestead in 1996. He enjoyed working with his sons on their trucks to be sure they were fixed and ready to take off again.
David is survived by his wife Nancy, sons Dennis of Madrid and, Daniel (Andrea) of Altoona, Iowa Grandchildren; Ashly, Mikayla (Mitchell), Morgan, Mandi and, Mason. Great-Grandchildren; Scarlett, Sapphire, Andrew, Eric, and, one on the way. Sisters; Barbara Danilson of Pennsylvania and, half-sisters; Roxann Hamilton and, Marcia Hamilton of Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ferris and, Margaret George.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid. Services will be held the following morning Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 10:30. The burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery near Madrid. There will be a luncheon after the graveside at Garden Prairie Church in Madrid for those who would like to attend.
