TEMPE, AZ - With our family’s deepest sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, David A. Getz.  Dave was born to John J and Anna May Getz on June 3, 1955 in Peoria, Illinois.  He is survived by four sisters:  Karen Getz of Windsor, CA, Janet Getz (Steve Fischer) of Morton, IL, Carol Getz (Mike Pizzi) of Tempe, AZ and Sheri Frank (Dennis) of Bloomington, IL.  Also, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dave was a 1973 graduate of Morton High School, Morton, IL.   He attended Northwestern University and graduated from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) in 1982 with a B.S. in Business Management and Administration, to include Operations Management/Information Systems.  Dave moved to Arizona in the late 80’s, living in Flagstaff and Tempe most recently.  While in Arizona, he worked as a coating specialist contractor; at one time owning his own business.  After retiring in 2009, he spent summers in Illinois and enjoyed working on the family property in Varna, IL.  Recently, he took up vegetable gardening, incorporating into his homemade dishes and soups.   He enjoyed bicycling and working out at the gym, shooting sports and photography.    One of Dave’s greatest joys was traveling and holidays with his family.  Lastly, we can’t think of Dave without remembering his knack for grilling up a 5-star restaurant steak.

He was a gentle, easy going, thoughtful son, brother, uncle and neighbor.

Memorial services and burial will be private.  In memory of Dave, donations may be made to his favorite charity Midwest Food Bank. https://midwestfoodbank.org/locations/gilbert-az
