David Lee Gosper

Canandaigua - David Lee Gosper, age 83, passed away February 18, 2023. He was born in Canandaigua, the second to youngest of twelve children and was the last surviving sibling. He spent 58 of those years married to the love of his life, Sharon, before losing her to cancer in 2019. He loved her more than anything or anyone on earth.
David dedicated his entire professional life to Mobil Chemical working his way up to becoming highly successful before retiring in 2000. His long career took him from Canandaigua to Connecticut, Pittsford, abroad to Luxembourg, then back to Pittsford. He also traveled to all points of the globe for business. This hard-earned, self-made success enabled him to be incredibly generous with family, friends and anyone he thought needed a helping hand. His advice and mentorship were frequently sought out, freely given and much appreciated by many along the way.
Upon retirement, David returned to Canandaigua for good and split his time between there and New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was well known and warmly regarded for his quick-witted sense of humor wherever he went. In addition to enjoying many sports, he was a lifelong fisherman, a collector of antique automobiles and proud Teacup Yorkie "Dad". He loved his family and his family loved him.
He is survived by his three children; Richard (Darlene) Gosper, Robert (Katie) Gosper, and Barbara Gosper; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call, Wednesday, March 8, from 4-6 pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to share a story or fond memory. His interment, as well as a celebration of life for both David and his beloved wife, Sharon, is being planned on their anniversary this summer.
