David Gottschling Obituary

David M. Gottschling passed away on October 30, 2025, at LECOM Presque Isle. He was born in Erie on February 6, 1967, to the late Robert Gottschling and Sandra Green.
Through Local 603 he worked as a laborer for various companies in the Erie area. He enjoyed restoring his father's old gas pumps, repairing/restoring old equipment of his father's and building huge bonfires.
Besides his parents, he was proceeded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents; his nephew, Matthew Gottschling; and two uncles and two cousins.
He is survived by his step-mother Bobbi Gottschling, two brothers Robert and James (Lisa, step-sister Laurie Shelhamer, two sons David and Adam, one daughter Leah Gottschling, a granddaughter Mia Granger, one nephew and one niece.
His family would like to thank the nurses and aids in the Ambassador Suite of Presque Isle for all their help and care while he was in hospice.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Tuesday, November 4th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a funeral service there the following morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to David's entire family. He was a great guy who had huge heart. We loved listening to his stories and about how much of an animal lover he was. It was truly an honor and privilege to care for David, and he will be missed.
