David J. Hall passed away on April 12, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on April 12, 1964, in Harvard, Illinois to Donna Hall Wennlund and David Hall, Jr. In his earlier years, David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fixing cars, fishing, and enjoying life. In his later years, he dealt with health issues up until his passing.
David grew up in Lakemoor, IL and worked for the Village of Lakemoor when he was a teenager and several places in his adulthood including Brake Parts, Jet Concrete and Eby Brown in McHenry. For a few years he lived in Barboursville, West Virginia taking care of his grandmother Sylvia. David enjoyed talking, telling stories and would start a conversion with anyone that would cross his path.
He loved his nieces and nephews and even let his niece Melanie put hair bows/barrettes in his hair & practice her makeup skills on him when she was little. He would help them with their homework. He loved taking them fishing and would bait the line and remove the fish for them. He loved playing cards, dominos & board games with his family and enjoyed cookouts with everyone. He had fond memories of his cat, Winston, and missed him very much when he passed and enjoyed playing with other family members pets when he got the chance to.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing David will remember him as a kind man who would help you in any way he could. David often entertained everyone with his stories and sense of humor. He had a heart that overflowed with love for his family and friends, and his humor was a gift that he freely gave, brightening the days of those around him.
David was also incredibly handy, a trait that often saw him helping others with their projects and always with a smile and a joke to make the work seem lighter. He had a knack for taking things apart and fixing them. If he could fix something for you, he would defiantly try.
David taught those he loved the value of laughter, the importance of being there for one another, and the beauty of a life filled with simple pleasures. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Hall, Jr. and Donna Hall Wennlund, his grandparents, Edward and Allene Lossman and Kenneth and Sylvia Butcher, his aunt Rosie and uncle Charlie Ferguson, his uncle David Koch, and his cousin Elizabeth Koch.
David is survived by his sisters, Michele Soto and Brenda Johnson, his nieces Melanie Soto and Emma Johnson and nephews Michael Soto (Kati Wilsman), and Steven Johnson. His great-nephews Logan Soto and Zee Wilsman and his great-niece Nova Soto, who cherished him as a beloved brother and fun uncle. Everyone will miss his playful teasing and the laughter and stories he brought to their lives. David's caring nature extended to all who knew him, and his impact on their lives will be felt for years to come.
As we say goodbye to David J. Hall, we celebrate the time we had with him and the countless happy memories he leaves behind. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit of joy, his caring heart, and his infectious laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In the quiet moments by the water fishing, sitting outside watching the sun set and the warmth of a family embrace, we will remember David. His life was a journey of joy, and though that journey on earth has ended, the stories, the love, and the laughter he shared will never be forgotten.
