David Emmanuel Halterman, 57, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his residence in Staunton.
He was born on January 5, 1968, to Donald Lee and Gail Ellen Cross Halterman.
David was a proud graduate of Wilson Memorial High School in Fishersville.
After high school he was employed by Penny Plate in Fishersville until he was no longer able to work.
David loved the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing, hunting, and enjoying nature. He was a true outdoorsman.
He was also very good with his hands and had a passion for restoring old cars and trucks.
More than anything, he loved being a dad. He was incredibly proud of his two daughters and cherished every moment with them.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughters, Rachael Abigail Halterman and Courtney Leigh Halterman; his paternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Ronnie Morris; his uncles, Sidney, Joseph, Allon, and Julius Cross, James and Johnny Halterman, and Jerry Stotler; his aunts, Arlene Campbell, Kandy Wilkins, Betty Bayne, Betty Cross, Mary Spitzer, and Shirley Halterman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Heath Spivey officiating.
Interment will follow at 12:00 PM at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be Joey Cross, Timmy Gray, Aaron Cross, George Cross, Joshua Cross and John Ray Halterman, Jr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Shenandoah Hospice nursing staff for their exceptional care, compassion, and support. Their kindness during such a difficult time made all the difference in the world.
