David "Butler" Hawkinson, 67, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Milbank City Cemetery.
David Edward Hawkinson was born on June 26, 1957, in Milbank, SD, to Earl and Marilyn (Miller) Hawkinson. He spent his early years in South Shore, SD, where he also attended school. Later, he moved to Maple Lake, MN, to continue his education. During his youth, David was baptized and confirmed into the Covenant Church. He eventually returned to South Dakota in 1980, though he continued to work construction in Minnesota. He also lent a hand to his father at the family’s gas station and with his landscaping business.
David had a passion for spending time with family and enjoyed attending social gatherings, always finding joy in connecting with others. He also loved riding his motorcycle.
David is survived by his siblings: Ray (Michelle) Hawkinson of Princeton, MN; Jerry (Sheila) Hawkinson of Spring, TX; DeAnna (Norb) Schindele of Dassel, MN; and Tony (Mags) Hawkinson of Scotland, UK; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Marilyn Hawkinson; two sisters: Carol Monnens and Denise Baker; his infant brother, Earl Hawkinson Jr.; and nephew, Bob Hawkinson.
