David Henry, Sr. of Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Kent Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old. David was the devoted husband of Janice L. (Johnson) Henry for 58 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank and Kathleen M. (Moran) Henry. He grew up in Warwick and attended Warwick Veterans Memorial High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees.
After his military service, David had a long career as a central frame technician with New England Telephone, later Verizon, before retiring in 1997. He was a man of quiet strength and generosity, always willing to lend a hand-especially when it came to home renovation projects, where his skills were unmatched.
David's greatest joy was his family. In addition to his beloved wife Janice, he is survived by his two sons, David Henry, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of North Providence, and Michael Henry and his wife Tamar of Los Angeles, CA. He also leaves behind his brother Frank Henry and his wife Marie of Warwick, and his three granddaughters, Jo-Anne Henry and Kathleen Henry of North Providence, and Eleanor Henry of Los Angeles, CA.
David will be remembered for his humor, his kindness and his devotion to his family, friends and neighbors. His legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will remain a source of inspiration for everyone who was fortunate to know him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. in St. Peter's Church, Warwick, RI. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's name to St. Peter's Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick, RI 02888 or Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org) would be appreciated.
