Celebrating the Life of David E. Hohensee

A Tribute to Our Beloved Husband, Dad, Brother, Friend, and Source of Laughter

In Loving Memory of Dave Hohensee

With both heavy hearts and grateful spirits, we announce the passing of David E. Hohensee, 77, on December 25, 2025. Surrounded by his loving family, he left us peacefully, reminding us all that life is best lived with love, family, and friends.

His Carefree and Authentic Self

If you ever met Dave, aka ‘Fatboy’, you probably walked away with a story to tell—maybe the ones from our cherished time at the ‘Hohensee Haven’, the countless nights at the racetrack, at one of the thoughtfully planned parties he would throw, or just from a seat next to him at his local watering hole. He lived carefree and with laughter and he brought it everywhere he went. Quick with a joke and generous with his time, he was the life of every party and the friend you could count on. He taught us to live authentically and that is the best gift he could have given us.

Chapters of an Extraordinary Life

Dave’s life was a collection of vibrant chapters. Born and raised in Greenfield, WI, he built a career as an Electrical Engineer, a graduate of UW-Milwaukee, and found many adventures and joys in life— from fishing on Moose Lake, working on his treasured cars in his garage, overseeing his domain at the Burlington, WI farmhouse, and the many road trips that took him from coast to coast. He was a master storyteller - he could, and would, talk to anyone and was the kind of man who made friends wherever he went.

Family and Friends: His Greatest Treasures

Above all else, Dave cherished his family and friends. He was a loving husband to Christina for 25 years, a proud and loyal father to his son Mark (Renee), daughter Amy, and stepson Clayton (Brittany), and an elated grandpa to Sophia, Scarlett, and Saige. He had an unbreakable bond with his sister Linda and loved his nephews Jeff (Kim) and Eric dearly. His circle of friends was large and lively—fellow pranksters, racing buddies, and dear old friends who will forever miss his loyal spirit and generous heart.

Legacy and Celebration

Dave leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a reminder to always find the fun in life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and LaVerne; his first wife Lynn, mother of his children. He is also remembered by his former wife Linda Rosado, and her children Michelle, Janet (preceded in death), and Sandy, with whom he shared many meaningful years. To everyone who knew him, let us continue to share his stories, laugh at his old jokes, and carry the warmth he spread. We invite all who were touched by his spirit to join us in remembering him—not with sorrow, but with the kind of joy he brought to us every day.

We will be holding a ‘Celebration of Life’ on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at The Main Event, 556 N Pine St., Burlington, WI, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, or until the party ends…Dave style.

To honor Dave’s memory, the family invites friends and loved ones to consider a contribution to his GoFundMe memorial fund in place of flowers or cards, or to plant a tree in his name. Your kindness and remembrance are deeply appreciated. https://gofund.me/4a8aa3236
