David Garrett Holsinger, 51, passed away on April 10, 2024, in Norfolk, Virginia. He was born in Muncy, Pennsylvania, to the late Richard C. Holsinger and Linda Holsinger.
Dave grew up in Muncy, Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the choir at Muncy First United Methodist Church and attended Muncy High School, where he played soccer, participated in the Odyssey of the Mind national competition, and played a lead role in the musical "South Pacific." After graduating, he attended Colgate University, where he studied computer science and music, sang with the university chorus and "The Resolutions," an a cappella group and graduated with a BA. Dave continued his education in musicology, spending 2 years at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he met his wife, Janet. They married in Virginia, creating a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and family and friends. While living in Virginia and Maryland, Dave settled into a career as a web developer with Dynamic Management Systems, working for the company for over 20 years. His accomplishments reflect his integrity, determination, and resiliency.
A lifelong lover of travel, Dave spent college semesters abroad in Venice, Italy and Chennai, India, and he loved exploring new places with his family. Many of their trips reflected his love for the outdoors, as they camped, hiked, ran, fished, and explored new locations. Even after his competitive soccer days ended, Dave continued living and breathing the game, watching his favorite players, and coaching his sons' soccer teams. He enjoyed trying new cuisines, and loved making his family's favorite dishes, including chicken enchiladas and homemade pizza. Dave continued singing while living in the DC area, becoming a member of the esteemed Capital Hill Chorale. He was a devoted father to his two sons, always deeply interested in their lives and activities. He was also an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy novels and loved watching movies. Dave's generous spirit, creativity, and optimistic outlook on life enriched the lives of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
Dave's legacy is carried on by his wife, Janet; their sons, Gabriel and Benjamin; and his mother, Linda. Dave is remembered also by his aunt and uncle, Ann and Gary O'Neal of Rockwall, TX; and his cousins David Replogle and Gregory Replogle of Chesapeake, VA, and their families.
The family will receive friends and family at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
