David A. Homeyer, 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in Northbook, IL. He was born March 26, 1940 in Chicago, IL and was a Libertyville, IL & Gurnee, IL resident for most his life. David was a United States Army veteran and a member of the American Legion in Gurnee. In his youth, he took great pride in power lifting, weighing over 300lbs of muscle at one time, he loved hot rod vehicles and if he could, he would visit Rita's Bar & Grill in Lake Bluff, IL everyday where he enjoyed the company. David will be remembered as a kind gentle giant who loved his wife and family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his 2 sons, Dave & Dan Homeyer; stepson, Mauricio "Reece" (Maria) Arroyave; stepdaughters, Dyane (Dan) Shanahan & Claudia (Michael) Vakos and by 3 grandchildren & 9 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Haydee on October 13, 2019.
A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville, IL. Interment will be at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery. For info: 847-362-3009 or share a memory at www.burnettdane.com.
