David Helm Hornberger, age 83, of Spring Grove, PA, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and dog, Sadie, on August 28, 2025.

Born July 30, 1942 in Tidal, PA, he was the son of the late William H. and Alice L. (Sedwick) Hornberger.

David is a proud Marine, having served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 – 1962. In addition to his military service, he earned the status of 32nd Degree Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge and held membership with the F&AM Patrolia Lodge #363 and Venango Lodge of Perfection in Oil City, PA and the Masonic Grand Lodge in New Castle, PA.

David was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Joyce M. (Beck) Hornberger for 64 years. He was an absolute perfect father to his four children Sherri Bauer, Rhonda Ceranski (Edward), Lisa Gobrecht (Eugene), and Bill Hornberger (Jeanene). David was an even more amazing grandfather to ten grandchildren Nathan, Meranda, Jessica, Jamie, Zeke, Cody, Jordan, David, Justin, and Cane. He is also survived by his eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

David will be greatly missed by his surviving wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as his sister Sandy Anderson; his brothers Tom, Dean, Ben, and Brian; his sister-in-law Shirley Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson Lawrence James Bauer, IV; his brother Edward Hornberger; and his sister Diane Hawk.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately by the Hornberger Family.
