David Franklin Hubbard Jr.

David Franklin Hubbard Jr. was born August 17, 1950, in Tokyo, Japan to Captain David F. and Carolyn (Silas) Hubbard both of whom preceded him in death. Dave is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Ann (Miklas), three children, David Christopher (Randi), William Joseph (Rosario) and Kathryn Leigh (Adam Hernandez). The light of his life are his four grandchildren, Harper Lynne and Hailee Rae Hubbard, & Liara Nix and Liam Garrus Hernandez. He is also survived by his brother Donald A. (Dawn), brother-in-law Joseph Miklas, nephews Kyle and Tobin Miklas, James Hubbard, niece Caitlyn Hubbard, and bonus grandchildren Katarina and Tyler Hernandez.

Dave had a friendly outgoing personality, a wonderful sense of humor, and was gentle and humble. He enjoyed theater in his younger years, deep sea fishing any time he could organize a trip, reading, and volunteering. After a lifelong career in automotive marketing and advertising, nothing fulfilled him more than his role leading a nonprofit that helped people with disabilities gain mobility through driving. It became not just his mission but his greatest professional reward. Dave also enjoyed traveling with his wife and seeing new and exciting countries. He managed to travel to six continents during his 75 years on earth.

Dave was a long-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Huntington Beach where he served as a lector, cantor, on the finance council, adorer, adult choir member as well as in various volunteer functions. He was also on the board of directors at the Huntington Beach Symphony Orchestra.

Dave died on September 11 at home in Fountain Valley with his children and wife by his side. He is truly missed by many, but especially his loving family. Our consolation is that as a good Catholic man he is now enjoying his eternal reward in Heaven.
