Philip Anthony Nisco was born on September 4, 1936, in Revere, Massachusetts, to Philip and Caterina Nisco. He passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by three generations of his loving family.
The youngest of five children, Phil grew up cherished by his four older sisters, Ann, Josephine, Mary, and Jenny, and their love carried him throughout his life. Born and raised in Revere, Massachusetts, Phil remembered his childhood and young adult years with fondness, and remained a die-hard Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics fan for life.
Phil married his childhood sweetheart, Norma, on September 2, 1957. They soon welcomed four children into the world: Philip Matthew ("Matt"), Theresa ("Terri"), Linda, and Michael. In 1971, Phil's job with General Foods offered him an exciting opportunity to relocate his young family to Fountain Valley, California. Phil and Norma took the leap and made the move across the country, where they built a new life for their family in a brand-new neighborhood called Green Valley. Over his lifetime, Phil shared with his four children the values he held most dear: a strong work ethic, steadfast faith, and reverence for family and tradition. Phil dedicated his career to the field of Human Resources. Known for his fairness and guidance, he was deeply respected by colleagues and those he mentored. His work ethic, paired with wise investments in real estate, eventually allowed him to establish his own consulting business, where he continued to share his expertise and support others.
A man of strong Catholic faith, Phil was a devoted parishioner of Holy Spirit Church in Fountain Valley from its founding. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, participated in the Knights of Columbus, and, with Norma, established the Nisco Family Charitable Giving Foundation. Through this foundation, the couple funded nursing school scholarships, supported orphanages in Mexico, and sponsored dozens of cleft palate surgeries- work that remained among Phil's proudest accomplishments.
Though Norma passed away in 2002, the family and memories they built together remained a lasting legacy throughout his life.
Later in life, Phil was blessed to fall in love again when he met Trudy. For twenty-two years of marriage, they traveled the world together, enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and made everyone smile when they lit up the dance floor together at each of their grandchildrens' weddings.
One of Phil's greatest joys was in becoming a grandfather and watching the Nisco family tree grow. Phil was a devoted "Papa" to his grandchildren, and when they were young, he loved to spoil them with big bowls of ice cream, take them to the playground in the park by his house, and or play games of "HORSE" with a basketball in the driveway. As they grew up, he loved attending all of their performances and athletic games, even traveling to their many college and graduate school graduations. He was thrilled at the birth of each of his nine great-grandchildren.
Phil was deeply passionate, fiercely devoted to his family, and proud of the traditions and faith that gave his life meaning. Above all, he wished to be remembered as a
faithful husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a devoted Catholic, and a teacher and mentor whose guidance touched countless lives.
He is survived by his wife Trudy, his children: Matt, Terri, Linda, Michael, sons-in-law, Kevin and Bill, daughters-in-law, Mary and Yen, stepson Michael, nine grandchildren: Philip, Kristina, Julie, Michelle, Patrick, Marie, Noelle, Mary Kate, and Anthony, and nine great-grandchildren. "Now I am a rich man," Phil often said, gesturing his hands around the room toward his family. And at the end of his journey-surrounded by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren-he was, in every sense, a rich man indeed
