Obituary of David Allan Johnson
David Allan Johnson passed away on February 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 71 from pancreatic cancer.
David was born January 3, 1954, in Mora, MN to Jack and Luella Johnson. He attended Mora public school until moving to Minneapolis in 1964. He attended Minneapolis North High School and graduated in 1972. He worked in the printing/warehouse industry for most of his life before retiring January 3, 2025.
David married Cheryl Ogren on August 6, 1983, in Minneapolis, MN. They were married 41 years and settled in Dayton, MN in the Spring of 1984. They had one daughter, Katie.
David enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish, specifically back trolling for walleyes. Many weeks and weekends were spent in northern Minnesota and Canada at cabins with family and friends. He also loved sports and enjoyed cheering on the Vikings, Twins and Gophers. He enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. He would go to many garage sales, estate sales and flea markets. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by paternal parents, Jack and Luella Johnson; maternal parents, Bernice Ogren, Carroll and Dorothy Ogren; infant sister, Rebecca Johnson, Louis DuChene Sr., Louis DuChene Jr., Ardel Anderson, Art and Bev Ruud, Steven and Linda Ogren and Cole Haakana.
David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheryl; daughter, Katie (Adam) Weis; sisters, Barbara (Don) Sim, McMinnville, OR, Elizabeth Anderson, Sartell, MN, Bonnie (Bill) Bemis, Grand River, IA; brother, Robert (Elaine) Johnson, Milton-Freewater, OR; loyal lap companion Jack; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held, Friday, March 14, 2025, at 12:00pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Brooklyn Park Chapel, 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park MN 55445. Memorial Service will begin at 1:00pm.
