David Johnson passed away on April 22, 2022 at the age of 81, in the comfort of his home with family in Syracuse, Utah. He courageously fought a battle with cancer and despite the pain and challenges, he endured to the end.
David was born on November 20, 1940 in Scipio, Utah to Everett and Iris Johnson. He graduated from East Carbon High School in 1960 and then served a Mission to Central America for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After returning, he met his eternal companion, Linda Carling and they married shortly after in the Logan Temple. He and Linda have four daughters: Melanie, Jennifer, Melissa and Natalie. He raised his family in Bountiful, Utah with a short time in El Paso, Texas and then relocated back to Fruit Heights, Utah.
He spent his career in many sales positions and made numerous friends throughout those years. David loved his girls and could be found spending many weekends at drill and dance competitions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping where he assisted others in finding side-hill galoots. He had a fun sense of humor and kept everyone laughing with his Donald Duck impression.
He was always reliable for helping others with home projects, plumbing and sprinkling issues. He also had the opportunity to serve as an ordinance worker with Linda in the Bountiful Temple.
David was known as a husband, father, brother, friend but most of all, Grandpa J. He was a jokester and loved to tease others, especially the grandkids. Grandpa J was known for repeating his own jokes, forgetting his hearing aids, needing help with his phone or any other new high-tech product. He loved sharing his convertible mustang with the grandkids (which he referred to as a chick magnet) and ordering a double cheeseburger with no cheese. But most of all, he will be remembered by attending their sporting events, school programs, band performances, priesthood advancements, reading weekly missionaries updates and remembering birthdays with his infamous store-bought Hallmark cards. He truly loved his girls and grandkids.
David was proceeded in death by his wife, Linda and his parents, Everett and Iris Johnson. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Johnson and sister, Kathy Fidler. His four daughters, Melanie Johnson, Jennifer Gee, Melissa Newman (Kimball) and Natalie Graham (Ben), his 11 grandchildren, Joshua (Brittney), Kyle (Alexis)and Sydnee Gee; Jordyn, Kaitlyn, Ryan and Emma Newman; Hayden, Ethan, Abby and Aubrey Graham.
