In Loving Memory of Maria Ojeda Cuenca
Beloved Matriarch • 1937 – 2025
Maria Ojeda Cuenca, age 87, completed her earthly journey on July 16, 2025. Her humble and loving spirit, born on October 5, 1937, in the beautiful city of Estipac, Jalisco, Mexico, was a beacon of light that guided her family and all those lucky enough to cross her path. Maria's journey of love and generosity began in Mexico and continued in the United States, where she immigrated with her beloved husband, Jose Cuenca, to create a life of possibilities and dreams. A symbol of determination and resilience, Maria became a proud U.S. citizen and planted the seeds of a legacy that would flourish into a grand and beautiful family tree.
Maria was a woman of many virtues; her strength and unwavering faith were as steadfast as her love for her family. Her generous heart knew no bounds, her work ethic was unparalleled, and her support for those around her was a testament to her character. Maria, the loving matriarch, was the embodiment of compassion and loyalty. Her wisdom and her warmth were her gifts to everyone she met, and her presence was a comforting balm, a source of strength, and a beacon of light. As Maya Angelou once said, "A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her." Maria's heart was indeed hidden in God, and her unwavering faith was a testament to her devotion and love for Christ.
Maria is survived by her loving children: Dolores Villanueva, Cecelio Cuenca, Leobarda Orozco, Claudia Nuno, Veronica Jones, Josefina Garcia, and Anita Perkins. She also leaves behind a profound legacy carried forward by her 33 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great-grandchildren. Maria is now reunited in Heaven with her cherished husband Jose, five beloved children, her parents Maria Guadalupe Garcia and Pablo Ojeda Salcedo, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Maria's legacy is one of resilience, devotion, and boundless love. She held a quiet reverence for the beauty of nature and a strong belief in the power of education. Despite not having formal schooling, Maria's wisdom and strength became a cornerstone for her descendants, inspiring them to pursue knowledge and live with integrity. Maria's love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her, an enduring testament to a life well-lived and a soul well-loved.
In honor of Maria's life, we encourage all who knew her to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Your stories and images will help keep her spirit alive and serve as a reminder of the extraordinary woman that she was.
