David Arthur Jones Sr.

David Arthur Jones, Sr., 73, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away on January 5, 2026.
The family will receive friends at the New Bern Church of God on Friday from 11 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the church from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and interment at Greenleaf Memorial Park, New Bern, NC.
David was born on January 23, 1952, in New Bern, North Carolina. He was the son of Lillie Mae (Elliott) Jones and Bob F. Jones. David has been a Craven County resident his entire life. He was a 1970 graduate of New Bern High School. For nearly 40 years, he was employed with Norfolk Southern Railroad. David was a member of the New Bern Church of God, where he served on the finance committee. He was an avid New Bern High School, Braves, Tar Heels, and Indianapolis Colts fan and loved people, especially children.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Peggy Webster Jones, his parents, Lillie and Bob Jones, and his brother, Jacky Jones.
David is survived by his sons, David Jones, Jr. (Victoria) of New Bern, NC, Charles Jones, Sr. (Michelle) of Bonney Lake, WA; his sister, Faye Aileen (Jones) Case of Vanceboro, NC; his grandchildren, Justin, Jenna, Mariah, Ben, Charles Jr., Jamison, and sixteen additional grandchildren.
Those who knew David will remember him for his steady presence, his devotion to family, and the quiet impact he made on the lives around him. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Church of God Home for Children, 3485 Orphanage Circle, Concord, NC 28027.
