David Michael Klapatch Sr.

David Michael Klapatch "Dave, The Lawn Ranger", age 77, died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and his three children on October 21, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born on September 18, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Irene Burns Dell.

He graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School. Following high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served two tours in Vietnam. He married his high school sweetheart Kathy LeMay in 1971 and spent 54 years together. Following his tour of duty from the service, he worked for 25 years with the United States Postal Service. He went on to create a successful lawn business for 30 years where his customers became family.

David is survived by his wife, Kathy Klapatch; 3 children: David Klapatch Jr. (Kim), Amy Flynn (Danny), and Shannon Klapatch-Francis (Sam); and 5 grandchildren: Ethan Klapatch, Nicholas Flynn (Sarah), Noah Flynn, Eleanor Francis, and Harry Francis.

Besides spending time at home with his family, David had a passion for adventure, the United States Marine Corps, and an unwavering faith in God. David had a bigger than life personality and touched many lives by his generosity and sense of humor.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate David's life at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Monday, October 27, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a mass starting at 12:00 noon with military honors and burial to immediately follow.
