David Knoch, a beloved and loyal husband, devoted father, and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born and raised with a heart full of kindness and a ready smile, David was a proud graduate of East Carolina University, where he forged lifelong friendships, laid the foundation for a life filled with purpose and dedication and met the love of his life. He never forgot or lost touch with his "old coots" fraternity brothers from Pi Kappa Phi where he was a founding brother. During college and the Vietnam war, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. David's time in the military was marked by unwavering commitment and integrity, values he carried with him throughout his life.
After his graduation, David began a 26-year career with Virgina/North Carolina Power, where he worked tirelessly to support his colleagues. He was also passionately involved in both the Lions Club and Rotary Club where he served his community.
David's greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. He shared a deep, abiding love with his wife of 53 years Ann, who he stood by unflinchingly through her over 20 years of illness and was her constant advocate. His two sons were the light of his life, and he found immense joy in watching them grow, cheering on their successes, and guiding them with wisdom, warmth and the sometimes hard truths they needed to hear.
David had a rare gift for making friends wherever he went. Whether through his community, work, or the simple act of sharing a smile with neighbors, he touched countless lives with his humor, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
David's legacy of love, service, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife, his two sons, two daughters-in-law and two amazing granddaughters.
A celebration of David's life will be held in the spring in Corolla, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Water's Edge Village School via check to PO Box 215 Corolla, NC 27927.
David Knoch will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His love and kindness will remain an eternal light in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
