Richard (Rich) Lee Knoch was born in Eldon, MO, to Glen and Lois Knoch of Olean. Rich, the third of six children, graduated from School of the Osage (Lake Ozark, MO) in 1962 and remained an active member of the Alumni Association through much of his life.
After graduation, Rich joined the United State Navy, completing Basic Training in San Diego before being assigned to Fighter Squadron 151 (VF-151), where he served until his Honorable Discharged in 1967, having attained the rank of Aviation Fire Control Technician Petty Officer 2nd Class (AQF2).
Rich remained an advocate for service veterans throughout his life, especially for those like himself that served in Vietnam. He became a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, where he was recognized as the Veteran of the Year in 1993 for his outstanding leadership of, and service to, Chapter 393 and the veterans community.
After leaving the service, Rich attended Central Missouri State University, getting his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1971. He then attended the University of Missouri - Columbia, where he was elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges in 1973-74. In 1975, Rich got his Masters in Business Administration from UMC.
In 1980, Rich was recognized by the US Junior Chamber of Commerce (the Jaycees) as an Outstanding Young Man of America. Then in 1982, Rich embarked on a lifelong venture, founding CompuLink, Ltd., a software management system which he continued to actively run the rest of his life.
Rich passed away May 28, 2025 following a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his father Glen Knoch, his mother Lois (Sandfort) Knoch, four brothers [Gerald, Howard (Tom), Michael (Mike), and Donald (Don)], and one sister (Betty Jo Gore). He is survived by four nephews and five nieces. As a veteran's advocate, teacher, businessman, friend, and beloved family member, Rich left his mark on many and will be remembered fondly.
To memorialize Rich's life, the family asks that you consider contributing to the United Way of Central Missouri, earmarking your donation for Welcome Home (https://www.welcomeveterans.org/) in Columbia, MO. Rich and five other Vietnam Veterans were the original founders of this program.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 1270 S Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020 (573) 346-2090. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
