David Walter Koper, age 65, of Louisville, KY, passed away on May 28, 2024. Born on November 7, 1958, in Coronado, California, David was known for his remarkable intelligence, earning two master's degrees and graduating from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. His undergraduate degree was from the University of Louisville. He had a successful career in healthcare, retiring as a hospital administrator.
He is survived by his four siblings: Debra Dreas (Scott), George Koper (Terri), Dennis Koper (Laura), and Denise Haley (Dan), and his beloved nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by his parents George and Sharon. Family was central to David's life, with his mother, Sharon, having been a constant and important presence prior to her passing. David cherished his family deeply, and his loving nature was a source of strength and joy for them.
David also had a great love for music, often connecting the lyrics of his favorite songs to his relationships with loved ones. He was a self-taught guitarist whose early ambition was to play in a rock band. He spent time later in life participating in an adult baseball league. David's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, love for family, and passion for music will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of being a part of his life.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church (1520 Hepburn Ave, Louisville, KY 40204) Monday 6/3/24 at 09:00 a.m. with a burial at Calvary Cemetery to follow.
