David Krause Obituary

Published by Legacy from May 10 to May 12, 2025.
David Frederick Krause, 84, of Bowler, WI, passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 7th, 2025, at 1:15 p.m., after a courageous battle with cancer. David's life was a testament to faith, resilience, and the enduring power of love.
David was born September 13, 1940 to the late Frederick and Belle (Bright) Krause in Beaver Dam, WI. The family later moved to a farm near Ogdensburg where he attended Stony Ridge school through 8th grade and graduated in 1959 from Iola-Scandinavia High School
At age 16, David was severely wounded in a hunting/trapping accident which left him with birdshot pellets lodged in his heart, lungs and other organs. Although this incident left him with many on-going health issues, he survived the accident after his wounds stopped bleeding and closed, and after a nun prayed for him.
David was drafted into the United State Army in 1959. He trained to become a Medic then was transferred to Infantry/ Artillery.
David married Nancy Wilson on June 6, 1962. They had four daughters.
David worked at various jobs until he became a master electrician. David and Nancy embarked on many adventures as they moved from place to place including a farm east of Tigerton, WI; Island Lake, Ontario, Canada; Manawa, WI; Parmelee, SD; Bowler, WI; Taylor, NE; and Jennings, OK.
As David and Nancy moved to different locations he became like a second father to several children and made life-long friends wherever he lived. When they moved to Oklahoma due to health reasons and were separated from their daughters God soon gave them a new loving family at First Baptist Church in Oilton, Oklahoma. During David's hospitalizations he would always pray, "Lord, not my will, but Thine be done." There were many doctors and nurses who became more than medical staff and soon became brothers and sisters in Christ as they talked and prayed with David. Wherever David's adventures led him, those who came to know him, loved him, and quickly became fellow members of the family where Christian fellowship flowed in sweet accord.
David loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren traveling to visit relatives, cooking, fishing, playing in the snow, farming, and raising horses, sheep, and goats.
David is survived by his loving wife of 62 years and 11 months, Nancy (Wilson) Krause; four daughters, Michelle Nemmetz; Josephine VanDenPlas (Charles); Laura Mueller (Thomas); and Diana Carley; two grandsons, Michael Nemmetz and Scott Nemmetz (Brianna); great-grandsons, Rhett, Crew, and Indie Nemmetz; a sister, Mary Zenefski (Richard); a brother, Marvin Krause (Betty); a brother-in-law, William Wilson; 3 nephews and 4 nieces.
Despite David's life-long health struggles he had a deep and abiding faith in God. God victoriously led David through dark times and lovingly crafted him into the adored, respected, and beloved husband, father, and grandfather that he was. David is now safe and secure in the cherished arms of Jesus.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." -John 3:16
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
