WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness that the family of David LaBonte, age 71, of Sebastian, FL, formerly of Waterbury, shares the news of his tragic passing on July 12, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in FL.

David was born August 30 , 1953 in Waterbury the son of the late Walter and Ann (O’Connor) LaBonte. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Crosby High School. David proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and he worked for many years as a Welder in the steel construction industry. He moved to Florida several years ago to be close to the beach and warmer weather. He enjoyed riding his Harley on the open road and was participating in a Ride to raise funds for a worthy cause in FL when he was tragically involved in an accident.

As we reflect on David's life, we remember a man who valued love, laughter, and family above all else. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and warmth that will resonate within the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him. May he rest in peace.

Left to honor David’s legacy and cherish his memory are his children: David J (DJ) Labonte and his wife, Andrea, Marie Laferriere and her husband, David, all of Beauford, S.C., and Amanda Fortin and her husband, Josh, of Waterbury. He also leaves his sisters; Sheila LaBonte of Orlando and Brenda Coutore and her husband Michael of Waterbury as well as 7 grandchildren.

A Beautiful Farewell Ceremony for David will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. Military honors will be accorded to Mr LaBonte, at the conclusion of the service. A reception will follow the service in the Courtyard.
