David Earl Lahmers Jr, of Toledo Ohio, son of Rhonda (Wilkins) Lahmers and Dave Lahmers Sr. passed away on June 11, 2025. He was born at The Toledo Hospital on February 20, 1976. He was 49 years old.
He was a lifelong resident of the Toledo area, graduating from Perrysburg High School in 1994 and from the University of Toledo in 2000 with a BA in Communications. He was a member of the Fellowship of Chistian Athletes and the Varsity T Club. He was employed by Lott Industries in several positions, the last being a Habtech working with developmentally disabled adults.
David walked with Jesus and his faith was unquestioning. He was a lifetime member of Aldersgate Methodist Church working with the Men's Group, the Youth Program on numerous projects, such as coaching the youth softball team, the annual chicken barbeque, community dinners and he was active in Sunday School. He was also a member of the Aldersgate Golf League where he was known as Junior and loved by all.
David was an avid sports fan from a very young age. At Perrysburg High School he was the Student Basketball Team Manager for four years and was the Assistant Student Manager for the Toledo Rockets for three years under Coaches Hughes and Gibson. His love of sports continued after college where he followed teams in every sport and attended as many sporting events as he could with his family and friends. He passed away after attending a NASCAR Race with church friends, an annual event he looked forward to every year.
David was always happy and enthusiastic in any activity in which he was involved. He was kind, never spoke badly about others and had a contagious joyful attitude. His willingness to help others in every situation was noticed by all. David always looked forward to family gatherings and loved spending time with his extended family especially at the Annual Ping Pong tournament.
David is survived by his parents, Dave and Rhonda Lahmers; sister, Rachael (Lahmers) McCloskey; brother-in-law, Christian McCloskey; niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Thomas McCloskey; and niece and goddaughter, Abigail VanderZwan. He was blessed with many aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Morgan and Agnes Wilkins and Earl and Lois Lahmers. He cherished his relationship with all his grandparents and will be laid to rest next to Grandma and Grandpa Wilkins at Ottawa Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo from 4-7 PM and at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4030 Douglas Road, Toledo, where A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 AM.
