Obituary of David Gerald Larson
David Gerald Larson, 76, of Staples, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on January 11, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 9, 1948, in Brainerd, Minnesota to Gerald and Lorena Larson.
Dave met his beloved wife, Violet, in high school, and together they raised their family in Brainerd. He had a lifelong career in construction, retiring from Nor-Son Construction after 30 years of dedicated service. In 2017, they moved to Staples to be closer to family. Dave's passion for the outdoors was shown through his love of camping, hunting and fishing, and then more hunting! After retirement, he enjoyed "supervising" family building projects. His family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Connie Johnson. He is survived by his spouse, Violet (Soderlund) Larson of 56 years, his children Tom (Lonnie) Larson, Fergus Falls, MN, Tim (JJ) Larson, Staples, MN; his grandchildren Kerri Holm, Kyle (Monica) Metz, Taylor (Nycole) Larson, Ryan Larson, Seth Larson; and his great-grandchildren Isaiah Holm, Harper Jorud, Griffin Jorud, Jayden Diaz, Landyn Metz, Evelyn Larson, Camryn Larson, and Sawyer Larson, his sister Linda Knutson, Fergus Falls, MN, his brother Robert (Sandi) Larson, Moncks Corner, SC, and brother-in-law Kent Johnson, Brainerd, MN, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and honoring Dave's remarkable life. A celebration will be held at PickleStone "A gathering place for family and friends" on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm with storytelling and sharing memories at 3pm located at 46647 Red Oak Rd, Staples, MN 56479.
