Dave LaValley, 73 passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 24, 1950, in Superior, Wisconsin's East End at St. Francis Hospital. Dave graduated from Superior Senior High School with the class of 1968.
After a tour in the US Navy, Dave returned home and enrolled in the University of WI, Superior, graduating in 1976 with a degree in English and Geography. On July 15, 1972, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Higgins, recently celebrating 52 years of wedlock.
Dave's work history mainly involved the heavy transportation industry, the Burlington Northern Ore Docks, Hallett Dock Company and Koppers Industry being three of his major employers.
Dave is survived by his wife Mary Jo; Daughter, Ann (Justin) LaValley Wood; son, Mathew; Grandchildren, Ella Wood, Chloe LaValley, Jamison Wood and Cal LaValley; siblings Dick (Lyn) LaValley and Carol (Roger) Chevrier. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Romayne LaValley and siblings Jean McDonough and John LaValley.
Dave always said, "I'm not afraid to die. I just don't want to be there when it happens." Well Dave, you were there, but so were all your family and friends.
In life, Dave was a huge supporter of St. Jude's and Shriners Children's Hospitals. He would ask that anyone with an extra $5, to please contribute to the kids.
Following Dave's wishes no service will be held; however, he did not specify that the family could not have a party. Date and time to be announced in the upcoming months.
