David Niles Lentz, age 92, of Elkhart, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on May 3, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. A man of unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and quiet strength, David leaves behind a legacy of devotion-to his Lord, his family, and a life lived with purpose.
David was born on January 3, 1933, in Milan, Michigan, to Lester and Florence (Gruezke) Lentz. Raised in a loving and hardworking home, he was instilled early on with the values that would guide his life: faith in God and commitment to family.
David's life changed forever when he met Juanita Miller at a church youth group gathering. They were married on August 11, 1956, in Monroe, Michigan, and their 68-year marriage was a shining example of love and partnership.
David was employed with Champion Homes for 25 years starting as a salesman and then to Plant Manager. He was also deeply committed to serving others. He volunteered for many years as a Red Coat at Elkhart General Hospital. He loved sports, especially cheering on the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines.
David's life was a beautiful reflection of Christ's love.
"Well done, good and faithful servant enter into the joy of your Lord." – Matthew 25:23
David was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Florence Lentz, and his beloved siblings Dorcas Westrick, Harvey Lentz, Jean May, and Donald Lentz.
Left to carry on his legacy are his devoted wife Juanita and their three children: Lynda (Michael) Doering, Janice (Bradley) Blaney, and Rev. Kevin (Kathy) Lentz. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Cassie (Nick) Rost, Sean (Areli) Doering, Rebekah Lentz, Jacob (Kaydi) Lentz, and Anna Blaney, and a joyful great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Brentwood Assisted Living and Greenleaf Health Campus for their loving, compassionate care of David over the past years.
A visitation will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 30888 County Road 6, Elkhart, Indiana. A funeral service celebrating David's life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 30888 County Road 6, Elkhart, IN 46514.
