David Lesan Obituary

David was born May 20, 1959, in Bethany, Missouri to Donald and Wilma (Starmer) Lesan. His family moved to Ames when he was eight. He graduated from Ames High School in 1977 and then attended Iowa State University. David met Ann McFarland at a college party and was not impressed initially. She eventually came around and they were married September 19, 1987, in Whiting, Iowa. They enjoyed 35 years together.
David worked for Hach Chemical starting in 1984 and retired in 2018. He also worked at the Ames Country Club, Kinney Shoes, Montgomery Ward, Ames Varsity Theater, and drive-in movie theaters in his younger years. David enjoyed woodworking, making pots, and watching his granddaughter, Freya. He enjoyed sports, his favorites included: college basketball and football (Cyclones), NFL teams, Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs, MLB team, Kansas City Royals and NHL team Buffalo Sabres.
David is survived by his wife, Ann of Nevada; his sons, Quentin (Britney) Lesan of Nevada and Morgan Lesan of Ames, and his beloved granddaughter, Freya; his mother, Wilma Lesan; his brother Dan (Ann) Lesan and family; and his sister Mary Brandt and family. Also surviving him are several "extra" children. You know who you are. He was preceded in death by his father, Don.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Humane Society in David's honor.
A visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A memorial service will follow at 5pm, also at the funeral home.
