David Charles Licht, II, known affectionately as Dave to his friends and family, passed away on September 25, 2024, at NYU Langone Health in New York City after a courageous battle with Scleroderma. Born on August 30, 1979, in Poway, California, Dave's zest for life and dedication to his loved ones defined his 45 years.
Dave was the beloved son of David C. Licht (Elisa) and Brenda (Fleming) Licht. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Alexis (Esposito) Licht, since September 10, 2006. Together, they built a life full of joy and purpose, raising their son Dillon and daughter Abigail, who were the apples of their father's eye. Dave's family was the cornerstone of his life, and his role as a father was one he cherished above all else.
He is survived by his doting grandmother, Marilyn Fleming, and predeceased by his grandfather, Cecil Fleming. The second of five children, Dave leaves behind a legacy of love and shared memories with his siblings Cami Farmer, Ronald Licht, Stephanie Palacio (Carlos), and Christopher Licht. His nieces Autumn Nielsen, Ashlee Nielsen, Isabella Licht, and Arianna Licht will remember their uncle as a man of warmth and kindness. He also leaves behind his caring mother and father-in-law, Robin and Michael Esposito, brothers-in-law Michael Esposito and Christopher Esposito, and their families.
Dave's service in the Navy from 1999 to 2009 was a testament to his dedication to his country and the values he held dear. Dave transitioned from his military career to become a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer at General Dynamics in Pittsfield, MA, where his analytical mind and work ethic were greatly valued.
Dave's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. An avid fisherman, he found peace and solace in the ocean and at the beach. His hands skillfully crafted a saltwater fish aquarium at home, mirroring the tranquility of the sea he loved so much. Dave's culinary talents were renowned among his family and friends, especially his homemade onion rings and perfectly grilled steaks. His presence at his children's lacrosse games was constant, underlining his commitment to being the best dad he could be.
Known for his love of research, Dave approached every aspect of life with a thoughtful and analytical mind. His love for his family and friends was fierce, and he was a hard worker who never shied away from a challenge. Dave's loving and thoughtful nature was the foundation upon which his relationships were built.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his friends and co-workers for their generosity and support. They would also like to thank the doctors at Cardiology Associates of Schenectady, the doctors and staff of Ellis Hospital, and NYU Langone Health for the outstanding care Dave received.
A celebration of life for Dave will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Mohawk Golf Club, 1849 Union Street, Niskayuna, NY 12309. All are welcome to attend. Interment will take place at a later date of the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
