David Glenn Locke, 58, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 7, 1967, to the late David Warren Locke and Glenda Sue Coffey Locke.
David began golfing at Spring Lake as a teenager and eventually had the role of superintendent dropped in his lap. Jerry Goble can be thanked for believing in his work ethic and leaving the “notebook”. He eventually landed at the Elks Club, where he was for over 20 years, and once again took the helm of superintendent. The course went from a dust bowl, as most would call it, to a beautiful course that he took pride in. His ultimate dream was to be at Fields Ferry and his dream finally came true. While he hated golf, he was the GOAT at making the course the best it could be. He took those greens as 18 of his kids and took it very personal how they were treated. The Georgia Superintendents Group never named him the Super of the Year but so many in the state knew that he did his job well and would call often for advice on what they needed to do to their course.
David was also an avid bowler. While trying to be the best at everything, he ended up with 10 perfect 300 games and 1 800 series.
His love for tennis rekindled in the spring of 2022. Celina and Pam signed up for 101 and then his daughters Mollie and Maci took up the sport. He was always supporting each of us and becoming our coach. He thrived to make us all better. He had an injury it stopped his tennis game for a little while but he kept on coaching us. He became the “string man” for everyone. He is now a 3-time state champion in tennis.
David is survived by his loving wife, Celina Bennett Locke; daughter and son-in-law, Mollie and Parker Lively; his grandson and the light of his life, Bennett Warren Lively; sister, Dana Locke; special friend, Pam Mills and her daughters, that he loved as his own, Monica and Maci; and Cohen Mills, who he treated as his own grandson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Patsy Fletcher. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other in-laws also survive.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Sonoraville Baptist Church.
