His Journey
"I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7
The Beginning: in the Beginning...Genesis !:1
On AUGUST 18, 1957, David "Dip" Louis was born to Gertrude and Arthur Louis, Sr., in a small, tight knit community where faith, family, and education were pillars of life. His early years were shaped by a deep connection to his family and the values that would guide him throughout his life.
Education and Employment: Study to shew thyself approved... "Timothy 2:15
David's educational journey began at St. Augustine Catholic School, where he laid the groundwork for his academic and moral values. At St. Augustine, he was not only a dedicated student but also an active participant in extracurricular activities. His drive and determination led to recognition in the form of numerous awards. After St. Augustine, he went on to attend Rosenwald High School, where his academic achievements continued. His teachers, peers, and mentors often spoke of his dedication to excellence-both inside the classroom and outside it.
Throughout his life, David "Dip" Louis held many jobs, each of which contributed to his well-rounded character and strong work ethic. However, there was one place that stood out above all others-Gremillion's, an establishment closed its doors for good.
The Path of Faith: Be thou faithful until death... Revelation 2:10
David's spiritual journey began early. He was a devoted member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy until the age of eleven. His dedication to the church reflected his deep faith and strong sense of service. The nuns at the church affectionately gave him the nickname "Dip", a name that would stick with him throughout his life.
The Journey Ends: For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. II Timothy 4:6
On August 1, 2025, with a bright light still in his eyes, David "Dip" Louis departed this earthly home, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever resonate with those who knew and loved him. In his passing, he left a legacy rooted in love, service, faith, and the unshakable strength of family. David's life, full of warmth, dedication, and a sense of humor, had touched countless lives, and his memory continues to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
The Legacy Lives On: A good man/woman leaves an inheritance to his children's children.. Proverbs 13:22
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Casondra Louis; eight siblings, Shirley George, Clayona Simon, Cynthia Jack, Kathleen Louis, Linda Miller, Paul Louis, Susan Louis and Rod Hutchinson; four sisters-in-law, Elloise Collins, Ida Louis, Sally Louis, Amber Hutchinson; three brothers-in-law, James George, Bobby Lynn Miller and James Claiborne Louis. A special niece who was the apple of his eyes, Tawanna Louis, a host of other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
