David B. Lowe, age 66 of Eatonton and formerly of Fairmount, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Brightmoor Hospice in Macon.
David was born on June 30, 1958 in Fairmount, GA, the son of the late William Brooks Lowe and Betty Jean Carney Lowe.
David was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and a major in Animal Science. While at UGA, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and served as the chaplain. He was also a member of the UGA Livestock Judging Team and served as an assistant coach.
After graduation, David began his career as a County Extension Agent in Lee County. After serving in Lee County, he moved to Putnam County and served as the County Extension Director before retiring in 2009 as the County Extension Coordinator in Baldwin County. During his time as a County Extension Agent, he worked with numerous farmers, homeowners, landowners, and 4-H’ers.
David was a member of various organizations including: the Baldwin Jones Putnam Cattlemen’s Association where he was a Past President and a current director. He was also a Past President of Putnam County Farm Bureau and the Baldwin County Progressive Farmers Club. He was a member of the Georgia Association of County Agricultural Agents. He was also a member of the Eatonton Elks Lodge.
David is survived by: his uncle, Jack I. Lowe; two God children, Amanda Hartley and her husband Hunter and Zane Duckworth; grand God children, Elleigh and David Hank Hartley.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel at 105 Lower Harmony Road, Eatonton, GA 31024.
The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 1 PM until 2 PM at Fairmount United Methodist Church at 121 Calhoun Street, Fairmount, GA 30139.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 2 PM at Fairmount United Methodist Church with Reverend Bruce Lovin and Reverend Kiti Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Joe Duckworth, Frank Sears, George Larson, Edwin Avery, Taron Durden, Lynn Duggar, David Byrd, and Eddie Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Alpha Gamma Rho Brothers.
In honor of David, please feel free to wear your red and black Georgia Bulldog Attire.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairmount United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
