David Luis Magris, 75, of Boca Raton, FL died on August 17, 2023 after many years of various illnesses.
David served as a board member and president of Centerforce, a resource program for children and families of incarcerated men and woman in San Rafael, CA. After moving to WA, he served as a volunteer at the Matthew House, same type of outreach. When arriving in FL he joined the prison ministry at Calvary Chapel serving in Broward County. Having done that, been there, he vowed to be a part of positive change for all involved.
He coached Little League, men's softball and co-ed softball. His coaching style had a fun and can-do attitude. His players shined and the laughter was always part of the game!
Dance was a part of David's soul. He heard music in everything.
Golf and scuba diving were his sports, as well, and he laughed about his skills as a golfer.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lana of 31 yrs. and family members Lisa Seavers, Alan Crow, John & Diana Colby, Dennis Colby and Cliff Colby, Donna Skeffington, Gary Kowalsky and Stacy Stevens, Ray Kowalsky, Emily Zona, Pam & Scottie Philips, Linda & Robert Bulman, all his nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends who were like family.
David was predeceased by his father, Frank Zona, his mother, Louise Colby, his brother Dan Colby and nephew Nicholas Kowalsky.
Boca Community church was his church home. He felt good there.
A celebration gathering will be held for David on Friday, August 25th from 5-7 PM with a celebratory service at 6PM.

In the early 1980s my mother worked with David and I had many occasions to speak with him on the phone. David was kind, thoughtful and direct with a young girl who was a at crossroads in her life and could have made choices that would lead her down a bad path. I am so sad to know that I never told him in person what an impact he made on my life. I think of him often and always will. Thank you David. I hope you are at peace.

My husband, Richard & I had the privilege of dancing with David since 12/3/2018 every Monday night at Aberdeen CC dance class. David was always so warm & welcoming & generous with his gift of dance. He made sure no one was left behind being a former marine & Christian gentleman. Condolences to Lana & family, & dance community Heaven gained an angel!!

I´m so sorry Lana for the loss of David. I remember him as encouraging and friendly whenever I saw him at the Delray Ballroom. May he Rest In Peace. Much love to you and your family.

I had the honor and privilege of dancing with David for many years in the ballroom. He was always cheerful, kind and funny. When the line dance Cupid Shuffle came on I always counted on David to be there dancing alongside of me. The ballroom will not be the same without his presence, his smiling face, and his grace on the dance floor.
