David Allen Martin, age 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Elizabeth City, NC, on October 26, 2025. He was born in Cincinnati, OH, on October 2, 1949, to the late James Martin and Beatrice Rowland Martin. Throughout his life, David exemplified dedication and hard work, building a respected career as a general contractor in the construction industry. His commitment to his craft and his unwavering integrity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
David was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he found solace and community throughout his life. His faith was a guiding force and a source of strength for him and his family.
David is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Desma Louise Lewis Martin, who stood by his side through the many seasons of their life together. He leaves behind a son, Jason Martin, and a daughter, Kristen Alva, who cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy. His sister, Jamie Ayscue, also mourns his passing along with two grandchildren, Ethan Martin and Nicholas Gillespie, who brought immense joy to his later years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Kyle Martin.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at New Hollywood Cemetery, with Father Alex Gonzalez officiating.
