On July 19, 2025, David V May, of Oak Cliff, TX, passed away at the age of 71 years. David was born at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, on September, 24th, 1953, to Frances Vassey May and Edward Leon May of Grande Prairie, TX.
He attended Grande Prairie High school where he graduated in 1973, as did his older sisters, Dianne May and Sue May. Possessing great comic timing and singing voice, David distinguished himself as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, both at Grande Prairie and Trinity University where he graduated as a Theater Major in 1977. David married New York writer/actress CJ Critt (AKA Carol J Crittenden), in 1990 in Santa Monica, California. They met in NYC when David was working at the famed IMPROV comedy club. He also appeared Off Broadway, in Paradise Lost, with Geraldine Page, both members of the Mirror Repertory Company.
Prior to marriage, David and CJ resided at 221 West 28th St. in Manhattan, then acquired their home in Oak Cliff, TX, where they lived for 36 years. David was represented by the Kim Dawson Talent Agency, and was a staff writer and voice talent for Radio Disney in North Dallas, for 14 years. He retired in 2014, enjoying his passions of gardening, superb skills with a smoker and spice rack, a great love of Christmas, popular music, and his beloved tribe of canines, including Alice, Harvey, and especially Archie, who was so deeply attached to David that sweet Archie died on the same day, four hours after his best friend, David May, passed away. As they were inseparable in life, they are now together for always.
A celebration of David's Life will take place at the Upstairs Gallery in Arlington, TX, on September 20th, 2025, from 5 to 8PM.
